Ten new pressure switches for vehicle air-conditioning systems
Motorservice has expanded its product portfolio to include pressure switches for air-conditioning systems. The ten new Pierburg products cover a global fleet of more than 200 million vehicles – including many hybrid and electric vehicles. In doing so, the spare-parts specialist is systematically expanding its aftermarket portfolio for high-voltage vehicles.
The pressure switches are approved for use with R134a and R1234yf refrigerants. They monitor the pressure and, if necessary, switch off the air-conditioning compressor. Timely shutdown prevents the air-conditioning compressor being damaged or overheating. Leaks and even explosions caused by excessive pressure are also prevented. In addition, the switches ensure that the air-conditioning system is as efficient as possible. Motorservice is offering the sensors, which are made in OEM quality by its sister company Pierburg, on the aftermarket. They comply with the OE specifications in terms of form and function – ensured by extensive stress tests.
Pressure switch in the refrigerant circuit
The refrigerant circuit of an air-conditioning system in a vehicle is divided into high- and low-pressure sides. In general, two pressure switches are fitted in the vehicles – one for the high-pressure side and one for the low-pressure side. Alternatively, there may be, for instance, a combined pressure switch for both sides.
