Tobias Kasperlik,Chairman of the Board at Motorservice, has outlined the advantages of these particular production structures: "Thanks to our plants in the Czech Republic and Italy, we are now in an excellent position to optimally address our customers' needs. With our highly qualified personnel and short set-up times on our lines, we guarantee a spare parts supply service that is fast and of outstanding quality".
In 2016, Motorservice took over responsibility for the former Pierburg Pump Technology S.p.A. plant in Lanciano (Italy). Since then, the main focus of the site has been on the low-volume production of Pierburg products. The plant employs over 130 employees across three flexible production lines who assemble water pumps, oil pumps, vacuum pumps, exhaust gas recirculation valves and high-tech intake manifolds for the aftermarket. The 40,000-m² site also features warehouse facilities of more than 950 m2, as well as extensive test rigs and a quality laboratory.
Pistons for the aftermarket
In 2015, a new plant for the production of small pistons was opened in Chabařovice (Czech Republic) after a building time of just one year; several million was invested in this plant. The spare parts specialist's 50,000-m² premises feature a production area of 4,500 m2, where the focus is on producing technically sophisticated pistons for the global market. Due to the high production complexity of these parts, they are often produced in comparatively small series. Just six kilometres away from Chabařovice, the sister company Kolbenschmidt has been running a piston production site in Ústí nad Labem since 1995. Motorservice benefits from the close proximity of the two locations and the associated exchange of know-how by using this to optimise their production and quality processes on an ongoing basis.
Turbo by Intec
A third production location is situated Lyon. The Motorservice Group owns the subsidiary company Intec, which specialises in the reconditioning and refurbishment of turbochargers for passenger cars, lightweight utility vehicles, boats, agricultural engines and stationary engines for the independent aftermarket. The French company is based at an 850-m2 site with production, storage and sales facilities and a team of nine specialist employees. The focus of the production location is to offer repairs at a reasonable cost by offering environmentally friendly alternatives to brand-new turbochargers.
The Motorservice Group is the sales organisation for the global aftermarket activities of Rheinmetall Automotive. The company is a leading supplier of engine components for the aftermarket with its brands Kolbenschmidt, Pierburg, BF and TRW Engine Components. The comprehensive product range means that customers can obtain all engine components from one single source. As a problem solver for the trade and repair shops, Motorservice offers an extensive service package and the technical expertise that you would expect from the subsidiary of a technology company.
