Danger of breakage: Install water pumps from
Audi, Seat, Škoda and VW correctly
Information on diagnostics
What is the correct way to install water pumps? Can the gaskets on the water pumps be oiled? Why do water pumps break? What are common causes of damage to water pumps? This video tells you all you need to know.
Water pump damage symptoms
Typical damage to the water pumps in question are visible breaks or leakages in the area of the flange seal. The most frequent cause is that the gasket has become contaminated with oil. This is because when the gasket comes into contact with oil, it can swell and break the housing. Therefore, you should never oil the gasket. The area around the installation location and the coolant agent must also be free from impurities from oil.
Another possible cause is that the screw connection sequence was not performed in the correct order and the tightening torque was not complied with.
Tips for installation:
- do not remove the yellow protective cap from the water pump until after installation
- do not use additional sealant
- observe the mounting instructions
